Conferences and Courage

Mid-South Christian Writers Conference 2016

Information: Upcoming Conferences

The best way to meet other writers, network with industry professionals, and learn about writing and publishing is to attend writers’ conferences.

I attend these regularly:

I have attended these in the past:

These are on my wish list:

Every conference listed above would be a good experience for you, whether you think you’re ready for it or not.  If you do not live near these locations, there are numerous other conferences around the county. Check out this list on the Westbow Press website. Some conferences offer scholarships, so check that out if finances are a concern.

Inspiration: Courage

The following quote by Mary Tyler Moore, who passed away this week, can be applied to your writing endeavors.

Take chances, make mistakes. That’s how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave. —Mary Tyler Moore (1936-2017)

Have the courage to write, learn, attend conferences, and network. It’s how you grow as a writer.

Readers, do you regularly attend a conference other than those listed? Please share in the comments and provide a link. Emily, your blog always has such helpful information. Thank you! Two other conferences I highly recommend are the Blue Ridge Christian Writers Conference in Asheville, NC, and the Speak Up Conference (Carol Kent) in Grand Rapids. This conference has both a speaking and writing track, and I found it very helpful. I hope to see you at the Midsouth Writer’s Conference in March!

You have some terrific conferences on your list. I have a few more to add to it. Here’s my List of Writers’ Conferences with links and descriptions. I hope it helps some of your readers. I’m looking forward to speaking at the Colorado Conference in May and the Philadelphia conference in July. Hope to see you at one of them or both.

Thanks, Terry. I met Marlene at KY conference a few years back. I’ve always wanted to attend one of her conferences. I’ve been online friends with Dianne Butts for years, but we have never met in person. She is one of the reasons I’d like to go to the CO conference. We’ll see….

For another post, I think I’ll make a list of conferences that commenters suggest. Thanks for your feedback.
