James Watkins Remember, the old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?” Jim Watkins has mixed up a tall, cool glass of the tangy, sweet stuff to help us get through the tough times they keep warning us about on the news. Squeezing Good Out of Bad is a wonderful mix of wisdom, humor, and faith. Jim suggests ten additional things you can do when lemons are your lot in life, besides making lemonade, I mean. My personal favorite is: “When life gives you lemons, sell them on Ebay.”

If you have attended a Christian writers conference, you may know Jim. He is a writer, editor, conference speaker, pastor, and general threat to society (by his own admission). His writing always makes me laugh out loud, and that, in itself, was one of the reasons I purchased the book. Jim has had loads of lemons delivered to his doorstep in the form of cancer, job loss, and financial difficulties. However, he has squeezed plenty of good things out of those experiences, and he shares it all with us in this funny-yet-helpful book.

Do you ever read something and think, “I wish I could write like that?” That thought floats through my mind every time I read any of Jim’s work. If you aren’t familiar with his writing, visit his website,  Hope & Humor. The archive contains articles on anything you can imagine. He posts cartoons on Facebook regularly.
