Celebrating Blog4Writers Makeover

CelebratingTime to do some celebrating. Last spring, I started on the Blog4Writers makeover.

It took longer than I thought, but it’s done. Help me celebrate by visiting my¬† Makeover Reveal page. Not only do you get to see the new design, but, when you arrive, I’ll also tell you how I achieved the current look.

Readers, I’d like your opinion.

I’m not going to ask you to complete a survey, but I would like to hear from you via a comment. For example:

  • Do you like the color scheme?
  • How about the navigation setup (pages menu, category menu at the top)?
  • Did you find the search box easily?
  • What do you think of the other items in the sidebar?
  • Do you have suggestions for features I have not included?

I don’t expect you to answer all the questions above. They are just examples. Just take a minute to tell me what you do or don’t like.

Please comment.

Thanks, Pat. Your site looks good, too,

Your site looks crisp and clean, very nice. I like the A that goes across the masthead. Yellow is bold, but they say it’s the best color to promote learning (of course, I learned that when we started homeschooling, and I had just changed my younger son’s room from yellow to blue).

I honestly wouldn’t have noticed the category menu at the top if you hadn’t mentioned it. Yes, I found the search bar easily and like the side bars. Are the tag cloud and meta side bars necessary? I’ve seen them on other sites but never understood their significance to site visitors.

Thanks, Tracy, Good to know about yellow being a color that encourages learning. I had no idea. Kate, my graphic designer chose that color.

I’ve changed the color of the category menu in hopes that it will attract more attention. One thing about my theme, I can change anything and everything.

About the tag cloud, that is another way to find information on a blog. For example, if you click on Submission Tracking, it will bring up all the posts on that subject. You can’t put all your subjects in the category menu, so this is a way to help people find information.

I’ll probably take the meta login down. It’s convenient for me, but it’s probably wasted space for my readers.

Writers, go to Tracy’s site and sign up for WriteLife Newsletter.
